Lcd Monitor Wont Display Red- Port Problem?

I just connected a Mag Innovision 15" LCD Monitor to my 400mhz g4 desktop and despite all attempts to calibrate I cannot display the color red. I know very little about hardware.. My previous monitor was an older Apple Studio Display monitor which connected thru the 18pin port. This FLat panel monitor connected through the 8pin port. Could this switch be causing the problem?
I have an "aty, 128 rage pro" card and tried downloading ATI displays 4.5.1 but that didnt seem to help..

Any help would be very appreciated.
