Legal copies of Mac OS X

How can I make a legal (and fully working) copy of my own Mac OS X CD? Now I "only" have the original but since I have had damages to other CD-ROMs before, I wish I could make a backup copy of it.
Just burnig a simple copy seems to lose the hidden files behind. Any workaround available?
 
IIRC, you have to use the version of Disk Copy that comes with OS X to make a .dmg file. There should be a menu option to 'make image from device' which should make a complete copy, invisible files and all.
