Leopard - Audio problems

New to the board so Hi to all. I have a very frustrating problem. It occurs with youtube, Itunes and streaming audio on the web so far. Every few minutes the sound will cut out and the player will continue playing like I should be receiving audio. I look at my process list and nothing is out of the ordinary. Ive tried new speakers , all to no avail.

Any thoughts ?

Ps Also running all the latest updates

Which version of OS X are you using?
Are you connected via ethernet or wirelessly?
Which Mac are you using?
