Leopard Server upgrade needed?

Good Morning,

We have a Windows domain that has a Mac OS X server running Panther because of the 12 Mac OS clients that are also on the network. The Macs are authenticating to the Active Directory server. We were planning on upgrading all of the client Macs to Leopard...but leaving the server on Panther. Could this cause problems? Authentication to AD problems? What are some things to consider before performing the upgrade to the clients, besides software compatilbility? (we only have CS2, Dreamweaver, and Office)

Thanks!

Since every AD environment can be different, I'd suggest getting a test machine, putting all of your critical applications on it and Leopard to see how that runs.

What services is the Panther server providing?

A test machine is ofcourse very advisable, but AD should be machine and OS indepent, so you should not encounter a problem, but as with software you never know until you tried it. Have you already checked if the required applications run under LEOPARD.

Also what do you want to gain by upgrading other than have the latest installment of the OS (which is not always an improvement).

Good luck, Kees
