Leopard: Stacks

Hi

I am trying to create a stack of a smart folder I have created. I guess I have two questions:

1. Is this possible?
2. How? When I drag the folder onto the dock, and click it, it just opens the folder rather than showing as a stack. This is the case with regular folders too, not just smart folders.
