Leopards Time Machine and Apple mail

It appears that Apple Mail is supposed to be a TM client, like AddressBook and the new iPhoto.
While the latter 2 seem to work as advertised on my 2 Macs, Mail does not

Problem in my case was "Spaces", as long as I don't create more then 4 spaces, Mail and Time Machine will coexist nicely.
Make 6 Spaces and Time Machine refuses to start in Apple Mail.

That's a Spaces bug, then, not a TimeMachine one, I'd say... Well, here's to 10.5.1, coming to a Mac near you come December, I'd say...
