Lexmark x2350 Printer - Help!

Bought this printer (cheap and cheerful!) and have downloaded gimp-print so that it should have a chance of working, but for some reason my comp (ibook G4) won't recognise the USB cable at all. I've tried a couple of cabales but to no avail! Does anyone have any advice they can give me?!!

Do you have any other USB devices that work Ok on that cable or port?
Have you tried the printer with another computer? Perhaps the printer has a faulty connection.
 
Yup, it's plugged in and on. The scan and copy works alone. But no cigar when hooked up to my mac. Both ports also work,I have an ishuffle that works in both. Haven't tried it yet with another computer, will have to access one and try that out. Very annoying!
 
Again, there are no Mac drivers for that printer model, and gimp-print also does not show support for that model.
Some cheap printers are designed to work with Windows software components only, and cannot be used on a Mac.
