Hi all, After i input my password the system tries to login but the screen just hangs forever. I get a message that says:

you have inserted a disk containing no volumes that MAC OS X can read, to continue with the disk inserted click ignore.

There are no disks inserted anywhere.

What I did do prior to this ocurring was that i connected a new iPod. The Mac asked me that did i want to replace the current library on the pod to the Apple library. I said no. after that I switched everything off.

I later came back to the Mac, and got this error. I've disconnected the pod and still the system hangs.

Any suggestions other than a master cd restore.

Regards, Tal

As a starting point, I would recommend starting up in single user mode and checking the disk for errors.

Restart, then hold down the command (apple) key and the "S" key to boot into single user mode. You can release the keys when you see text messages appear on the screen.

When the messages stop, type "fsck -y" (without the quotes), and then press the return key. This will scan your startup disk for errors.

If errors are found, type "reboot" (without the quotes) and repeat the above procedure again until no errors are found. To resume startup after running fsck, just type exit and press return.

You also indicated that at one point you "switched everything off." If you didn't follow the proper shutdown procedure, that may be a key to the problem.
