Login Window OS 9

Hi,

In OS X, in Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/SecurityAgent/Contents/Resources there are all the pics used in the login screen, so one can take any picture, change its name what it is in the folder and then the computer will use it. I did this often to change the gray Apple logo at the top to something else, for example a Tigers head etc.., but now I want to know how to do this in OS 9, to change the Mac logo at the top of the login window to something else. In Macintosh HD/System Folder I don't know where this is.
Any help appreciated,

Ferdinand

In OS 9, most of these things are stored in PICT resources. If memory serves, that particular image is stored in the System file. So open the System file up with ResEdit (which you can download from Apple's archives) and paste in your replacement.

I replaced the startup image on my last OS 9 machine, so I know it's possible. I think ResExcellence used to have tons of replacement images and tutorials, but they seem to be going through a transition at the moment, and the content is inaccessible.

Oh, and always work on copies! Really, you do NOT want to mess up your only System file. Resources are not quite as isolated as individual files.
