Looking to get a DVD-R/RW drive for iMac G3

I would like to get a DVD-R/RW drive to replace my current drive in my iMac G3. Can somebody make some recommendations to a good one to get and also a website that sells them? I'm assuming it has to be a drive made just for this model since it doesn't have a tray? I'm not really concerned about speed, I'd just like it to be reliable and inexpensive.

Look for a Pioneer 106 or 107 DVD-R drive. It's the same super drive Apple uses and will be compatible with Apples apps.

Check dealmac.com. They search for prices.

Thanks. Actually, on second thought, I'd like to get a dual-layer drive. Would the Pioneer 108 work OK? I see this one and the ones you mentioned have trays that slide out. Wouldn't this be a probem since the disk just needs to be inserted into the iMac (without ejecting a tray)? Also, would I need the IDE type?

The 108 isn't compatible with Apple's apps, but probably will be in 10.4 (Tiger).
Didn't think about the tray.
IDE - yes. Your machine uses IDE drives.

Check http://www.xlr8yourmac.com and their forums to see if anyone has put this type of drive in your machine. They have a database you can search.

The MCE drive should be OK, your iMac is pretty limited with what will work because of size and space limitations. The drives that bobw mentioned would not work as they are tray drives, too large to fit in the space.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm hoping to get a PowerMac G5 in the next few months with a SuperDrive, but really need a DVD-R drive now. I'd really like to get one that's dual-layered since I'd have a regular DVD-R in the G5. If someone knows of a dual-layered drive that would work in my iMac G3 (or if there just aren't any that would work in my computer), please let me know.
