My roommie and I have a computer-to-computer AirPort network, which we use sometimes to transfer files. Hers is a G3 CRT iMac, mine is a G4 FP iMac.
So I created a network in the AirPort section, and that went just fine. I connected to the network from the other iMac, no problems. Then went Go->Connect to Server... Typed in afp://10.0.0.1 (since that's the IP of the first computer). Clicked Connect. Wait ten minutes. Then I get a login prompt.
Is there a faster protocol I should be using for the computer-to-computer network? I can FTP really quick -- type ftp 10.0.0.1 and get an almost immediate login prompt.
Once the two computers are connected, I have no speed issues at all. It's just that initial time to wait for the login prompt.
