Lost all bookmarks in Safari

I use a PowerBook G4 with Mac OS 10.4.11. I just received a message something like "Lost the keychain to store Safari. I Googled it and found your websight and the solution to go into Application, Utilities, Keychain etc. and repair the keychain which I did. I still have lost all my bookmarks and the home page reverts to Apple.com. Any idea what I can try next. I guess I don't even know what a Keychain is or what it does.

Thanks
Marston

This isn't really a useful suggestion to you at this point, but I find keychain suspicious and don't use it, and Safari doubly so because it keeps demanding keychain access, and because it often doesn't work in other ways. I recommend using SeaMonkey if FireFox doesn't do everything you want. (SeaMonkey is the new name for what used to be Mozilla Suite which used to be Mozilla which used to be Netscape...)

What happened before the bookmarks appeared gone? Do you have a backup of them?
