Lost my Install DVDs, In need some First Aid

Hi All,

I lost my Tiger Install DVDs some time ago when I moved and my G5 iMac is badly in need of some love from Disk First Aid. Since I have no bootable DVD to use for startup, I downloaded a .dmg of an install DVD from a torrent website so I could burn one (I know, I know: Not good to do...but I did legitimately buy it when I purchased my iMac, so I figure it's OK...).

I tried burning a copy with Disk Utility, but the disc I made won't boot...I just get the "null" sign at startup. I'd rather not drop $100 on a new startup disk and am hoping there is another way.

1) Is there a way to create a bootable disk from the .dmg I have?
2) Or is there some other way I can give my comp. some First Aid?
3) Or do I need to just suck it up and buy a new Install DVD?

Thanks for any help you can offer,
GMG

1.That is probably the dmg for a different generation iMac install disc.
2. Yes, in single user mode /sbin/fsck -fy
3. Would be better for karma. Then again, 10.5 is out so it would be probably the same price and cheaper.

Call Apple. If you have your Mac serial number and aren't a pest they will send you the correct discs... Free!
