Is it just me or is Linksys not very Mac-friendly? For one thing, they don't have any specific Mac support topics. Nice. And this doesn't help me because I am not a Mac user! Basically, the house I live in has an iMac that is currently hooked up to a cable modem (and I want to network that to a PC upstairs in the same house). I figure of course, the linksys needs to start there. I got myself a Linksys Wireless-B Router (BEFW11S4) and a Linksys Wireless-B USB Network Adapter. Thought I was going about it the right way, but who knows....
Linksys provides you with an ethernet cable, and the instructions tell you to connect it to the ethernet port on the computer. Well...currently the cable from the modem is in that spot, there is not another ethernet port on the computer. So, I took the cable from the modem, put that in the "internet" port on the router, and had the ethernet cable provided by linksys into the port on the computer. This sounds right- no? The instructions say if the green light continues to flash, go to troubleshooting, because obviously the internet is not communicating or whatever. Well I did that and don't see anything mac-related to help me, so...I'm lost. Then not to mention, you have configure the darn thing. I'm lost there too. But I obviously really shouldn't configure until I've got that internet connection going...no?
And when I insert the CD-Rom, all I can view is the pdf document of the user's guide...is that all I need? For some reason I can't open any of the other applications. It's really strange.
Anyone here have the time to give me a quick solution? And guide me in the right direction if I have this all wrong? Did I even buy the right router/adapter? As you can tell I am 100% clueless here. I thought it was a simple plug & play!
Thanks so much!
