Mac 10.4 to Windows XP HP P1006 Laser Printer

I installed the HP driver on my Mac by temporarily connecting it via USB port. No problem.

The printer is normally attached to an XP machine. Mac can see the printer on the Windows Network, but the HP driver install disk does not.

I can't seem to locate the P1006 on the Mac hard disk, and it does not show up on the driver list in printer setup.

Any help on where that driver is, and how to get it into the networked printer mix would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Jud

Sorry, Jud, but drivers on OS X don't work like on Windows. The driver provided by HP is a USB-only driver, because it's a "Carbon" driver and USB is the only comm protocol built into the driver. You need a CUPS driver to use the standard network protocols in OS X, that are supported by CUPS.
I don't have your printer, so I can't be sure which third-party driver works:
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_P1006
with this:
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/foo2zjs
or maybe this:
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs

You should be complaining to HP - they know how to make CUPS drivers, but have decided not to.
