Mac "_." files

Are "_." files STILL an issue? I can't find any postings later than 2003.
My 2009 Mac is still getting these files. They do not show up on Finder however Dreamweaver brings them all up and I have to continually wade through hundreds of these things before getting to valid files.
How can I get rid of these or at least turn them off?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was out of town for a few days.
I did this in terminal but no success. Do I need to enter a directory or path or is it supposed to run automatically?
Thank again

So you want to get rid of them completely? Too disable .ds_store files you can run this in the Terminal:

defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores true

You'll have to log out or restart for the change to take place.

If you feel like paying $17 than a program called BlueHarvest will get rid of .ds_store and ._ files.

I have BlueHarvest and TinkerTool System which has most of the features of BlueHarvest but I find that the handiest and quickest way to handle these files is dot_clean.

If the remote drive is mounted via MacFuse you can even cd to the remote server and use dot_clean there or copy dot_clean to the (Linux/Unix) server and use it directly via ssh.
