Mac AppStore not working?

Everytime I open the Mac AppStore it says "Unable to find and connect to agent." I can't sign in with my apple ID or download any apps. How do I fix this?

I also tried installing both of these:

Neither of them worked. I checked software updates and it says my system is up to date. I bought my iMac about 2 weeks ago. Thanks.

Open iTunes and and go to the iTunes Store. See if you can log in there. If you can try to contact Apple support and see what has happened to your Apple ID.
