hi guys

I remember ages ago there was a Cross platform benchmark on here, could someone please put it back up so i can try it now with my new athlon XP processor:D

Cheers

As far as I know, there is no accurate Benchmark tool to compare PowerPC processors with x86 processors at the OS level.

Your best best is to compare programs that are cross-platform, but even then you are not accurately judging the performance of the processor, since there are optimizations in the code for each processor family.

I have received one. It comes from Byte and it (wa)(i)s free. :D
I have tested a 120 Mhz Mac, a 300 Mhz AMD and a 450 Mhz PIII.
There is not a great difference between every computer.

To compare the CPU of PowerPC and x86. I think we have to develop a DOS system for both x86 and PowerPC and use the same compiler to compile it without doing any optimization. This is better because when you use the taskt manager in XP, you will find that there is 99% of CPU time is doing nothing. Use the single task OS is better. otherwise, the benchmark program must be careful to calculate the time. I don't think the program is so powerful.
