Mac ejects DVDs without reading them

As soon as I put DVDs into my computer, it makes noises and ejects it without ever loading it. I'm not sure what to do!

Sounds like the optical drive is going bad.Test it with a known good dvd or cd.Also you might want to blow a little dust-off inside the drive thru thru front slot.My MBP is the same age as yours and I'm ready for my 3rd replacement drive.

A new replacement drive runs in the $90 dollar range plus installation.Another alternative would be to buy a external drive and use that.Once again,price is in the $70>$100 dollar range.

Run a cleaning disk in it to clean it out. This should also help.
