Missing? Like missing from the Dock? Missing from /Applications? Is it possible she (or someone) accidentally deleted them?

it's strange really, it was all showing in the dock, but they wasn't clickable, and they had a ? over them, the application itself was missing from the harddrive.
they hadn't been deleted its just strange that it happened.
I have since done a whole new fresh install and had backed up her files, and re-stored them.
I am however very interested in how or why this happened in the 1st place

It's tough to tell how that happened, as it could be due to any number of things. Accidental deletion, purposeful deletion, perhaps the user erroneously dragged-and-dropped the application to some other obscure place on the hard drive...
