Mac keeps losing the printers

After printing several jobs, my mac seems to lose all refs to the printers and defaults to postscript, i then have to reboot to get the printers back on line

OSX 10
IndesignCS
G5

Any ideas

Which version of MacOS X 10?
Which version of InDesign?
Which model G5?

How are you connected to your printer(s)? direct to the HP and networked to the C900
Which version of MacOS X 10? 10.3.9
Which version of InDesign? 4.0.2
Which model G5? Dual 2.5GHz PowerPC G5
 
I had the same issue with my Canon 6100 during the time I was using 10.2, but it when ok when I changed to the Canon 2100 and 10.3.

Maybe you may want to install the drivers again and check the file permissions ?
 
If you're on 10.4, you could try resetting the printing system. Open your Printer Setup Utility then go to the "Printer Setup Utility" menu (next to the Apple menu) and choose "Reset Printing System ..."

NOTE: Resetting the printing system will remove all of your printers from Printer Setup Utility -- It will NOT remove your printer drivers installed on your computer. You'll need to add your printers again in Printer Setup Utility in order to print.
