Mac Mini Experts? Combo Drive Adapter to Ide Plug?

The combo drive has some bizarre plug that attaches itself to the standup ide board in the Mac Mini. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an adapter that converts the signal from the bizarre plug on the standup ide board in the Mini to a standard IDE plug so I can use a normal, cheaper, faster, better performing DVD burner. I've got the Mini all apart with no disasters and am using a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adapter for the primary IDE channel. But the other channel is wasted. I'd like to use it if it all possible. It sure would have been nice if they had made a Mac Mini that wasn't quite so Mini. Like with
2 DDR ram slots
a PCI slot or 2
audio in
AGP slot
NORMAL IDE plugs
all in a case where you don't have to use drywall tools to get into. I hear an axe works well, though it may limit warranty coverage somewhat.
It could be called the Mac Maxi Mini. (Sounds like a tampon.)
