mac networking slows other computers

Hello,

I have three computers connected to the same router using wireless connection. One of them is a mac, and two of them are PCs.

I bought mini mac recently (a week ago or so). However, there is a weird problem that started a few days after I bought it. Whenever the mac is actually connected to the network (Airport on), all network connections on the computers, including the mac itself, becomes very slow.

It is *not* DNS related, because even connections which are already on (let's say a Skype conversation) suddenly become slow.
I am thinking perhaps it could be related to some collision of packets in the network, but I have no idea how to check that.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Thanks.

Three questions:
  1. What is the advertised download/upload speed of your connection to the Internet?
  2. Run SpeedTest on each computer individually. What is the download/upload speed measured for each computer?
  3. Run SpeedTest on all computers simultaneously. What is the download/upload speed measured for each computer?

Another modern computer can't slow down a network! You have not listed the wireless network (a, b, g, n) with Security (WEP, WPA, WPA2), so what are you running? Plus what device is serving up the wireless?
