hi,

I have an iMac G3 snow, with Mac Os10.3.9 installed. Everything was running fine till two days ago when, after installing the newest version of Quicktime and restarting my machine, i found out that none of my desktop icons could be activated by clicking them (including the Hard Drive icon) and that the Dock itself had vanished. I tried the dock options and they dont do anything.
I can open new finder windows, but i cant open any of my applications apart from Firefox (?!?).
The background image i had also disappeared and got replaced by a blue screen.
I dont really know what to do. Please help!

thanks

Are you able to create a new user account? Can you test the new account and see if this problem is present there too?

You will need to launch System Preferences in order to create the new account. Since you say you can't launch anything but Firefox, you may not be able to. Can you get to Spotlight and do a search for "system preferences"?
