Mac OS 10.4 Display Resolution Lock

I’m a Mac OS newbie and have a 1.5GHz Mac mini connected to a Panasonic HDTV. I use the mini as a media connection to my entertainment system. The Mac is connected to the TV via DVI.

My problem is this: I cannot get the resolution to lock. The clearest resolution on my Panasonic is 720x480 which, though not perfect, is the easiest to read. However, each time the Mac mini reboots, comes out of sleep mode, etc., the resolution reverts to 1920x1080, which makes everything so small that text is unreadable. It’s straightforward enough to change the resolution back to 720x480 each time, but I would like to lock the resolution so I never have to change it.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

Thanks in advance.

ups! I didn't see your post when i posted mine.

I have exactly the same problem as you have.
I recently bought one of the new mac mini and I use it with my new 42" plasma TV. It's a panasonic too, and i use the hdmi connector.
I'm trying to lock the display resolution to 1024 but as you, every time I restart or log in, the resolution display comes back to the maximum whate makes very dificult to read the screen. :(

Did you find how to fix the problem?
