Mac OS 10.4 upgrade for garageband, etc.

Hello, Im new to the world of Mac's, just recently aqquired an older imac desktop and the Mac OS x is 10.4.11 Im an artist, i do photography and make house music, and looking for a way to get GarageBand and Aperature. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.


about my system:

Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
Processor 1.8 GHz PowerPc G5
Memory 512 MB DDR SDRAM


So far this is all that I know about my system

First the to update to 10.5.x. Then get more RAM (the maximum you can get at either OWC or Crucial) and max the RAM out. Then search for a 10.5.x disk (full retail not Upgrade) and then get iLife '09 (after you update to 10.5.x latest).
