MAC OS X 10.4.11 ruining files

I don't know much about computers so I'm going to give you all the info in the
"About this Mac"

MAC OS X 10.4.11
2 GHz Intel Core Duo
1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

My MAC has been corrupting(?) my files. For example, the text in my doc files change from "Accounting 380" to "&*$%#$#$" after a period of time, and my pictures are corrupting and won't open. What's wrong with my computer? Can I fix this one so it works right again or do I need to replace it? Thanks.

Maybe your Font System Cache was corrupted. For Free to clear the font cache just boot into Safe Mode and boot back into normal mode.

Plus download a System cache clearing program like Yasu and run all the cleaning routines. Let the program reboot your Mac. Just as the machine comes up from this boot, immediately manually reboot again because this will completely rebuild your Mac's shutdown/startup system cache. Doing this type of cache cleaning about once every 3 months can keep your Mac running almost like new.
