I have a mac G4 that I am not very knowledgable about -- i am learning more and more each day. I inherited it from a friend who has a lot of stuff on it. It is having some problems, and I would like to start almost from scratch -- however I do not have the OS X disk and it originally came with OS 9 and the disk no longer exists. I also have final cut pro with the same situation but do not want to lose it. any body willing to help. I am computer savvy but it is taking life out of me trying to learn my mac legs on my own.

You'll need to either get the original disks from your friend. Either that or purchase a copy of OSX. You can then choose Archive and Install option that'll give you a fresh copy of OSX with your old apps intact. However, some apps will require reinstallation. I don't know if Final Cut is one of them, but I suspect it probably is. Hopefully someone else will have the answer to this.
