Mac os.x keeps quitting unexpectedly

Hi to all!
Having a bit of a problem with my mac was hoping someone could help me. Have a mac book with os.x 10.5.6 but every time I close over my mac and reopen it a black screen appears with the power symbol in grey saying that mac os.x has quit unexpectedly and for me to either hold down the power button for the restart or switch it off. It's very irritating cause of the annoyance of having to restart the whole computer every time I close it over. Has anyone any solutions or suggestions? Thanks to all!

Do some maintenance on the Mac using either Yasu or Onx (they both and freeware/donationware) and run all the cleaning routines. After the software reboots you Mac manually reboot again to totally rebuild you startup/shutdown cache. This cleaning should e done about every three months to clean out the old cache in an OS X machine.
