Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Gmail

I have an almost new Mac which is a Mac OS X 3.2 with a GHz Intel Core 13, 4GB Mem, 1333 MHZ DDR3, Startup Disk, Macintosh HD. IMac,11.3, with 1 Processor, 2 cores, 256 mB Cache L2, L3 Cache 4 MB, Processor speed: 5:86 GT/s.

I've been involved mostly in attempting to learn the Mac after many years of PC'ing (Intermediate user) and have NOT download a lot of "stuff". I did download "Graphic Converter" in order to convert 15000 photos to .PNG format from various other formats which I had accumulated on my PC; plus, Onyx to help with some small "glitches" which I've encountered. Also, ABI Word and Cnet "Tech Tracker". Also, Google Earth and "Snagit" . Beyond that there were a few small downloads and of course, some misc videos which friends have sent.

I have a serious problem with my Gmail program tho and I'm not even sure which browser I use on this machine. To begin with, I simply Googled "Gmail" and created my account thru the link which it provided. I do not use the "Mail" option on my "Dashboard" as that seems not to work for me. I wasn't able to set it up initially and have just left it alone. There are severl glitches with Gmail tho - failure to load sometimes; Seems to "freeze" sometimes; problems addressing email to multiple recipients (it duplicates the first address repeatedly as I select addresses from the list using "Autocomplete); Others which I am unable to recollect at this moment - but they are myriad.
Each time I have to run "Onyx" I seem to be encountering the same list of problems; Apparently I have some program which is creating these problems over and over. Each time I run Onyx, the situation improves but soon deteriorates again.
Thanks for any and all help - it would be greatly appreciated:

The thread title says 10.6, thenI'm guessing your referring to Mac OS X 10.3, which doesn't run on an Intel processor. Thus, what system are you really running?

And since you don't know what browser you are using... Is the icon a compass, a fox, or an 'O'?

An iMac11.3 is the iMac previous to the current model, so a Mid-2010 27-inch iMac.
That first shipped with OS X 10.6.3

sayger2 - it would be helpful if you could list at least some of the problems that you have experienced with OnyX. OnyX is a (good) utility, which provides you with a means of modifying settings in your OS X system, and performing a variety of maintenance tasks. You can change what OnyX does each time you run it - so it would be helpful to know what particular tasks you set up. Maintenance tasks? Cleaning routines? Parameter changes, setting up automated tasks?
Also, try to write things down - - "unable to recollect" or "... not even sure which browser I use ..." provides no information, and does nothing to help you with your problem.
The only details we have so far, is some generic gMail problems, which may be connected to the browser that you use with gMail.
gMail can easily be set up on your Mac Mail app, following the clear directions that gMail provides at their setup web page, choosing either iMap or POP (that's your choice): http://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=12805

More details is almost always better than no details.
