mac os x wont install on this laptop

trying to reinstall OS-X in A1181 are hard drive failure, I am new to MAC, but good with Linux and Unix, Win

Boot into single-user mode and run the good old fsck on the disk.

If it can't fix the drive, drives are cheap enough to buy a cheap one to replace it (and wish you had a BACKUP).
