Hi,

In Mac Pros what is this heatsink for ? What is under it is more to the point.

What is this socket for? It is below DIMM riser B in my Mac Pro.

I can't say for certain, but I believe that DIMM riser is an expansion slot for a riser card that can hold more RAM for your Mac Pro than is available to be installed on the logic board itself.

Not quite sure about the heatsink....possibly for that row of items underneath it in the picture.
 
Yes, I know that the big, black, long socket is the RAM socket for RISER B. It is the much smaller socket, below and to the left that I am looking to find a description for.
