Mac Skype (linksys?) Connection issues

Hello. ive been using skype for a long time and usually no issues. probably starting a year ago i was losing connection in the middle of my calls. i thought it might have been my headphones so i used the internal mic on my macbook pro. But still lost connection. Around the same time i bought a new linksys router. I have heard there have been some problems with linksys and skype ports. But all of the intructions online are for PC.

Basically i'll be in a call and it'll start out fine, but at random times it'll drop the call or the people i'm talking to can't hear me well. I'm tried this on my macbook pro and my g5, problem exists on both...also on wireless and ethernet. So i think i've narrowed it down to the router.

Has anyone had problems with there mac losing connection on Skype and do you have a resolve? i'd rather not have to buy a new router.

Thanks in advance

Plus are you using the built-in OS X firewall or does the router have a firewall also?

um...i'm not sure. i didn't set up anything extra in the router to have a firewall? i am able to connect...just after time the connection gets lost. does that make sense for the links you sent me? i dont know much about networking

Find someone around you that understands opening ports on the router. The the best I can come up with because I don't own a Linksys router.
