Mac to Mac Migrate (Migration) problem

I have a Mac Mini and love it so much (after windows forever) that I purchased the newer version Mini Intel. I have attemped to Migrate information from my original Mini to the new Mini. Both are using OSX newest version.
The instructions say to connect with Firewire and boot the original machine while holding the "T" key down.
All this accomplishes (along with frustation) is a series of T's in my password window. I am using the Apple blutooth keyboard and wonder if thats a problem?

Even if I disable the password all together it still wont link. Any suggestions?

Probably it's due to the Bluetooth keyboard not being loaded until after the point at which you would need to press the T key. I couldn't swear this is the case though, as I don't have one to test. The easiest option would be to find a wired USB keyboard and try that instead.
Perhaps someone who actually has some experience with a situation like this will be able to share more information on why the wireless keyboard isn't working.
