Mac/Windows Network + iTunes

I am trying to hook up my Windows XP to access my iMac 20" G5 so I can share our iTunes libary on both computers...

I have turned on file sharing on the Mac, but do not see the Mac in my network places on my Windows XP machine... How do I do this, did a search but did not see the solution...

Then after this is done, I'm assuming others have shared a iTunes library from my Mac iTunes to my Windows iTunes...

Anyone done this?

How do I connect my Windows XP and iMac G5? Both are connected to same router...
 
Well...

First and foremost: I don't think you should bump your thread more than once a week, because if there's no answer, it simply means that no-one knows an answer or that no-one wants to answer. You don't change that by bumping. Instead, you'll seem impatient and probably will get even less answers. Well, that's not possible, I guess, in this state of the thread...

Then... If you turn on Windows Sharing on the Mac and the Windows machine is on the same network, you should be able to see the machine, if the network group has the same name. If not, you might use the Mac's IP to access it. Just enter \\192.x.x.x\ in a Windows file explorer window. (Well, replace the IP, of course...)

But... Sharing the iTunes library like this is not a good idea, because both computers will want to manage the library -> havoc. Instead, simply use iTunes' built-in sharing/streaming feature.
 
Thanks, I now have the basic file networking working... However, in iTunes (Windows machine) it does not show the iTunes Library whne I click look for shared music librarys...

However, when I connect through the std. network I can find the music library folder just fine. Why does iTunes (Windows) not find the same network iTunes Library?

Any ideas?

Turning on "Windows Sharing" on the Macintosh does NOT share the iTunes music library through iTunes' Shared Library functions. "Windows Sharing" is for file sharing only, and as Fryke said, if you do it this way, your Mac and your Windows computer will be "competing" to control the iTunes music library, which isn't a good scenario.

You can turn off Windows Sharing in the System Preferences, then hit up iTunes on the Mac and enable "Share my music" under "Sharing" in the iTunes preferences. Then, it's a simple matter of turning on "Look for shared music" in the same place (iTunes preferences) on the Windows machine.
