I have a macbook 1.83/ 512/60 The power switch does nothing anymore. The green light is on at the power cord into the laptop and I have tried everything I can find online(pmu reset etc.) Is there something I'm missing?

If he is getting a green LED on the power adapter, it should boot no issues. My take, if the white light is not coming on the bezel is a either a bad topcase (keyboard) or a back logic board.

Simple fix for Apple, takes about 15 minutes tops. He should go to a local Apple Store and ask them to use a scrap keyboard that was working post and pre repair. They should be able to test with that to finalize the determination between a topcase and a logic board.

I had the same problem. Here is how I was able to identify the topcase as the problem.
I got a mini VGA to VGA adapter and connected an external monitor.
I shut off the Macbook and let it stay for a week.
Then I reconnected the power supply, and it was able to boot, and it showed the Tiger screen on the external monitor.
My keyboard and the touchpad were unresponsive.

Since it can boot - its not a logic board issue.
Since it can display an image on the external screen - its not a display issue.
It is definitely a topcase problem and possibly an issue with the screen.
