MacBook air is stuck on grey start up screen

My MacBook air is stuck on the grey startup screen with the apple logo and the spinning pinwheel. Have tried all I can think of includin starting it with the start up disk and running a disk utility...please help!!! What should I do??

Try the suggestions in the Apple document Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck and see if it helps. Good Luck.
