Hey guys/gals,
I have a white Macbook circa 2009 (Core2Duo I believe, 4GB Ram) that was running OS X 10.6.2. Not completely sure this is the exact rev but it was 10.6 for sure (installed by Apple after a failed HD. Was running older rev before this)
Anyway, the poor thing won't boot up. Nothing catastrophic has happened to it like spilling the contents of my cereal bowl on it or dropping it from the top bunk bed. It doesn't even get to the Apple logo and makes no sound. It's just a white (blank) screen. I think I DO hear the HD spinning.
What's been tried:
- Safe boot >>> didn't boot
- The crazy 4 keystroke thing to reset the firmware
- Booting from install disk
>>All this got me was a file folder with a question mark on it. CAVEAT-the install disk was for my Macbook Pro, but was the same rev as the Macbook. So I don't know if this causes a problem.
I've never had a Mac behave this way on me. Am I looking at a mainboard failure here? Or is this still just a screwy HD? HD HAS been replaced by apple in the last year and a half.
Thanks for any suggestions.
