hi i'm new to the forum. i got my macbook pro less than a month ago.. very happy with it so far however 2 days ago it completely froze on me and i couldn't do anything on it like move the mouse press keys or anything.. after waiting patiently for 5 mins i had to do a harsh reboot by holding down the power button until it turned off.

I've been looking after it; not letting it get too hot, hasn't been dropped etc.. so i don't think it's my fault.

it happened earlier today... has anyone else found this with theirs? any solutions to it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Try running your hardware test. You can boot to that by restarting, while holding the D on your keyboard. Run the extended test, or you can run both the standard, and the extended test.
You can boot to your installer DVD, and run Disk Utility from the menus.
If both of those pass with no problems found, then I would suggest that you continue to use your new MacBook Pro, Maybe you had a one-time glitch, and won't happen again.

Have you installed additional applications? Did the freeze begin after you installed some software, or maybe connected some new hardware, like a USB hub, or an external hard drive, etc.? Or, is it possible that you were doing something (what?) at the time of that freeze, and you may be able to reproduce that freeze ...
