macbook pro 15 inch not recognizing battery

Hey, so I got a new macbook pro 15 inch around thanksgiving. So far it has worked wonderfully until this morning. I turn it on and notice a nice little x on the battery. Apparently now it does not recognize that I have a battery and in effect I dont have a battery installed in the machine....even though I do. Any recomendations would be great. My only thoughts so far is that the battery itself is faulty, which I hope it isnt.... Anyway any recommendations are appreciated.

Have you tried taking the battery in and out? Do the bars show up on the battery?

Also, reset the PRAM

Also if the battery is empty, symptom like that may occur.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304301 Would this apply at all in your case? If the battery is empty it will take some time to recognize it.

Hello,
I just bought a 15 macbook pro and from the start have been having this exact issue. The computer runs great on external power, but remove the mag-safe and the computer goes dead.

The battery is full, and I have reset both the plu (remove all power supplies, hold start button for at least 5 seconds) and reset the PRAM. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I am currently in afghanistan, and don't have an apple store at my disposal.
