Bought a MBP 2Ghz, 512mb RAM, 80Gig HD this past Monday.
I have made some observations in the 3 days I have been using it so far that I would like to share with other users.
Besides the tendancy for these machines to run hot, which has been already commented on by many people, I have found a couple other quirks that I have not read much about elsewhere.
Firstly, is that when the MBP has the AC adapter plugged into it, I can hear an audible high pitched whine coming from underneath the left side speaker grill (the side that the AC adapter plugs into). This whine briefly cuts out and disappears when your doing certain things on the computer, but it is present most of the time and only stops for brief intervals, then returns. It makes no difference whether the battery is fully charged or is charging when the AC adapter is connected, either way I hear the whine.
When the AC adapter is disconnected and the MBP is running off the battery only, I NEVER hear the whine, it is gone or either much more subdued. As a result I prefer to run it off the battery so I don't have to listen to the whining noise.
The other thing I have noticed, is that sometimes I see a vertical wave pattern, moving on the LCD screen. Seems to be moving maybe from top to bottom of the screen at a high rate of speed...almost reminds me of a monitor with a slow refresh rate so that you can see bit of a flicker. This wave movement is subdued though and not very noticeable. If I stare at the screen though and look for it I can notice it. I wonder if it might be caused by some sort of minor electrical interference from the internal components of the computer..
Anyway, this is what I have noticed so far. Has anyone else noticed either of these two phenomenon on their MacBook Pros?
