MacBook Pro screen

This may seem a silly question, but does anyone know how to check if a MacBook Pro has the new LCD screen?

The newest MacBook Pro has the LED-backlit (all are LCD, of course :) )
If you have a 15-inch screen, and your processor is either 2.2 or 2.4 GHz, then you have the new LED back-lit screen. If you have an older processor, then you don't have an LED backlight. The 17-inch display is not available with the LED backlight yet.

What's the visible difference?
The LED display is essentially instant-on to full brightness. All previous backlights have a warmup time to full brightness.

Silly answer - why do you ask about the LED screen?

why do you ask about the LED screen?

Because I have the new MacbokPro and was looking thru the system configuration and reading the new goodies in the machine.

Without knowing, it is practically impossible to know if the 15" Macbook Pro has the new LED LCD screen.

Some people also claim the iSight camera incorporated into the 15" Macbook Pro will have higher resolution capacities once the new OSX Leapord becomes available.

Now my girlfriend has walked off on holidays with the Macbook Pro, so checking the processos will have to wait.

Most certainly, the camera will _not_ get higher resolution with a system upgrade. The hardware is what it is, i.e. 640*480 AFAIK.

True - but it seems that Apple has put in an iSight cam with higher resolution, and not updated the Apple apps to support it yet. Some third party apps will give you double resolution on the newest MacBook Pros.
Here's a link to some relavant info, which I haven't checked out for accuracy (I don't have a new MBPro.)

So, perhaps a system update (like Leopard) will update the various drivers and apps for higher resolution images....
Maybe someone with Leopard developer can report about that without violating an NDA.... Or, we'll know in October. :)

Interesting... I didn't know anything about this possible iSight upgrade. I've found a couple more web pages with more information:

1) MacDaddy talks of a 1.3 MP sensor (and was the first to mention this?)

2) Engadget has a comparison of screenshots from the Apple System Profiler

My reaction too... but Apple seems to like to play with surprises. And I did mention higher resolution "capacities". Like the "n" capabilities of wireless earlier on this year - or was it end of last year...?

Pity that the LED LCD does not detail itself in the profiler, I think it would have been kind of cool. Especially with the whole thing about the eco-friendly aspect of the LED LCD's.

I wish it was possible to upgrade the size/quality of something with software. By now i would have around 16Gigs of ram :p
