MacBook Pro Shuts Down whenever I try to download

I just got a brand new Mac Book Pro from Amazon. I just got it today. I charged it up and then went to run Software Update. Every time it tries to download a file, the screen darkens and I get a menacing statement that I must restart the computer. This happens whether I try to download one or all the files. I even tried to download another file from download.com and I got the same error.

It seems to work fine surfing the web and just running normal programs. It just crashes whenever I try to download something.

have you updated the Firmware? if not you might want to goto Apple's site on some other mac and download it and then put it on a CD-RW or DVD-RW. then run that and see it that helps.

Thanks. I updated the firmware and it didn't help. I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I'm connecting wirelessly over my Belkin router. I'll try to see if that has something to with it. The router has no security measures so it's not encountering password problems.

I know that Apple has come out and said that some of the there older Revs of the MacBook Pro's Wi-Fi would not work or act up. I know I had a coworker of mine get a Rev B or C MacBook Pro. That the Wi-Fi would just stop working then come back. Apple when called about said that they know about it and would be willing to send her a new one. So she got her new one in the other day and it was a Rev D the last Rev Apple has put out. It works now on the Wi-Fi and no fan nose.

its possible your downloads are set to go to desktop and you have permission issues. Go to disk Utility, repair permissions, rebot and try again. If you are staying connected to the wireless, I suspect the OS and permissions are the first thing Apple will tell you to try.
