MacBook will not start

My MacBook will not start. When I turn it
on, a white screen appears with the Apple
logo in the middle and the little rotating circle
below it. It will not then continue on to the
desktop screen. Can you please help?

After you post your full specifications, then let us know if you have tried and what happened when you restarted off your Installation Disks and ran Disk Utility.
