MacOSX 10.2.8 PrintService Wont Launch

Hi Guys,

I've got a problem with my server and the printservice. It's an xserve 1ghz running system 10.2.8.
I simply cannot get print services working, it went down about two weeks ago and it's proving difficult problem to fix. Apart from this problem the server is operating perfectly.

When I select 'start print service' from in: server settings -> file and print -> printer
The little world bumps up and down but will not actually launch, it will be bumping up and down all day long.

I've checked print service logs and nothing appears there.
Checking console while attempting to launch print services produces no error messages.
I've done a full permission check with disk utility and fixed all permissions.
I've removed all queues from print center.

"E [26/Nov/2004:09:52:31 +1100] get_printer_attrs: resource name '/printers/ ' no good!"
I've found the following error in the /var/cups/ directory in the error_log.
This is the only error I can find relating to this problem.

Any help would be appreciated,

John

I think you have a corrupt config file. And from the error it sounds like it's /etc/cups/printers.conf. I'd delete that file and restart. This may require you to re-ADD all printers, but I guess at this point that's acceptable.

Good luck.
