MACOSX.COM Chat ... WHY AM I BANNED?!

try again. apparently one of the mod's client randomly bans people for things. right now, no one is banned. also, i think this will happen if you do too much pinging and looking at other people's info.
 
you can also be banned from the server. some people that share your ISP may have done something the warranted it being blocked from the server.
 
but i am on a shared connection from my own PeeCee... that doesn't have a monitor, no1 but me uses it! i was in the chat last nite... it says ...
ERROR :Closing Link: Neyo[stefday@255.255.255.255] (Banned)

... this is NOT Fair :(
 
you are banned from the server irc.choopa.net. you can try a different server but you'd have to use a different irc client like Snak because macosx.com client only uses irc.choopa.net.
 
at what point do you get this closing connection - while logging to server or while logging to #macosx.com?

perhaps you can use a different client and connect thru a different server.

and stop snooping in other people's stuff so this doesn't happen again!! :D

(just teasing neyo, although that has been known to cause temporary bans)
 
what did i do then?! i was talking to ddloyd, and Xaq til 1am this morning ... thats ALL i did! I couldn't of done anything wrong, because i don't know how to use IRC! This is STUPID, why am i banned? More to the point, can i NOT be unbanned? i cannot be ass'd to get another client, reconnect via another server, besides i don't know how! ...come on guys, sort this out, i have to say, i am pissed to say the least :(
 
neyo, understand that we don't have any control over the server. it's a public server that we essentially mooch off of. there is nothing we can do do fix any problems you are encountering with them. have you tried a different nick? maybe somebody else with your nick has pissed them off. i know lately i've had to be edx2 because somebody else is already using edx.
and i did immediately go and check things out with btoneil (chilly) as soon as i read your first post and tried to change whatever we could. but currently our channel lists no one as banned so it's not under our control. i can understand your frustration but please don't be pissed at us - we're only trying to help within the limits that we can.
 
thanks guys, i appreciate you have little control, it sure DID Bug me!! ... yes, past tense, i fired up the little apple in my Dock, and now i am back in! STRANGE!! :D
