Macosx.com upgrades it's popular .mac alternative email service with new industry standard pricing plans. "We decided to jump on the bandwagon, but at the same time keeping the same high level of support and service our customers have come to expect," commented, Scott William, Macosx.com Founder. The new pricing plan significantly upgrades the mailbox size limit from only 5mb to 100mb for the $9.95/yearly plan. On the other end of the scale is our new unlimited space service for only $49.95/year. Other plans are available depending upon overall need.

All plans includes virus scanning, spam filtering, pop and imap access, webmail, unlimited attachment size, and all the other features you come to expect from a mail service provider.

Existing customers will see their packages upgraded over the next few weeks regardless of how much time is available in their current contract. Customers will be upgraded to the account more closely matched to their current account rate.

"We feel the name macosx.com provides the best alternative to the mac.com name without adding the association required when using email services from other mac sites."

This is really exciting re:email upgrades. I am curious though, is there a service out there that can replace .Mac's iPhoto integration? That would be the real boon.

Why in Earth would anyone want that? It's akin to asking if .Mac can be accessed by any browser other than Safari.

The only reason I crave a .Mac account is the WebDAV - as soon as someone lets me display my iCal to any monkey with a browser I'll be a happy man - unfortunately its not quite enough reason to pay for a .mac account for me thoug, I have no use for the other services.....
from 5 to 100Mb limit for the same price is pretty good though, well done....

I don't quite understand what you are saying. I presume that you know that you can access .mac perfectly well with just about any browser. It is the exact opposite of a Safari exclusive.

iTools 7 is an easy way to get WebDAV and to set up group calendars with iCal. It's not free, but you don't need a .Mac account.

Yes, .mac is great, but the question was, can you publish iCal calendars without .mac and the answer is yes. Tenon's iTools is a web-based GUI for Apache, DNS, and FTP. If you are not running a web server, you would not choose this product.

But if you did have an iTools Apache web server, you would not need .mac to publish iCal calendars. (And iTools would be a one time charge, not a yearly subscription.)
