Hi,

I have a mac OSX version 10.3.9...I booted up today and found I can't click on my desktop items to open them. The only way I can do it is if I hold the control click down to open them. I'm finding it very frustrating and I don't know what's wrong. It was working fine until today, everything else is working...please help!!

Have you tried moseying over to /Applications/Utilities/ and open Disk Utility and once that is open, "Repair Permissions" on your startup drive. If that doesn't work, there is one thing you could try. Open ~/Library/Preferences/ and find the item "com.apple.finder.plist" and throw it in the Trash. Then log out and log back in.

One of these two suggestions should work. Good Luck.

Hi Thanks for your reply,
I had already done repair permissions that didn't work, I went to where you said and it listed all but the finder one. It had com.apple/fixup.plist ect ect but not the one you suggested.
Desperate here :(

You're looking in the wrong folder. Look here;

user(yourusername)>Library>preferences
