MacPro issues w/Rosetta?

Hi -

We're considering purchasing a new Mac Pro with 6 GB RAM but concerned we may have issues working on our large files. We create designs using the channels palette of Photoshop (sometimes layers) and multiple channels create huge file sizes of up to 600 or 700 MB. The physical design size may be about 24" x 60".
Would using filters be a problem? Peforming real time tasks such as select/cut/paste?
Thanks for your thoughts,

Deb

I've noticed that the Mac pro eats memory like it's nothing with Rosetta. I use a Dual G5 at work and the memory is about 50% gone, with only 2 gigs here. i have 3 gigs at home and the entire 3 will be tapped out, although a good chunk is inactive, the memory is still not free.

Speed, it's not as fast, but not all that noticeable, but I don;t work on large files all the time.

Yes, Rosetta-emulated tasks use much more memory than native tasks on either PPC or intel. But that doesn't really answer the question. Question being whether Rosetta-based applications have a problem with large files per definition... AFAIK, that's not the case.
