Macromedia In Safari

I am having trouble with flash and shockwave in safari. nothing shows up all the flash and shockwave comes up as either black or white squares but no actual flash.

I had to install them again with the root user because of the administrative account problem and the worked fine under it but then after I logged out and back into the administrative account flash and shockwave still did not work. I don't know if it would be a factor in it but I installed and removed netscape today.

What should I do?
 
Do you have any audio programs installed? Digi something? Anything using midi?
Open Garageband and do some music there, quit the application. Any chance? (Sounds a weird step, but seen that working for flash issues..)
